Orthotropic transplanting is the most widely used technique for a liver transplantation which involves placing a donor liver to replace the defective one. Transplantation of the liver is only done when there are no chances that the defective liver will heal and when there is no response by the patient to any medicine.Causes of Liver Transplant. There are many causes for liver disease that is severe enough to require a transplant. Doctors have come up with various means of determining the need for the surgery. The two methods normally used are through a combination of clinical conditions and laboratory abnormalities and specific disease process. Liver transplant criteria comes in where the transplantation team ultimately takes into account the patient’s health problems, the blood test results, and the type of liver disease in order to determine a suitable transplant candidate.
