Biolife Cedar Rapids
Been twice; would like to go more before giving such a negative review, but I don't think I want to risk it. I struggled a lot with what to rate them, so let me give you good and bad and then my verdict.Good: Great nursing staff. My physical went well, they explained everything clearly. When I had a reaction near the end of my first donation the nurse was awesome, and a great help. Handled herself professionally and calmly. Also, they have pretty decent promotions to bring in more donors, and you can profit pretty well from those. Clean, modern facility, comfortable chairs.Bad: Incredibly unprofessional staff. The people on the floor who actual stick a big needle in your vein are not polite, not gentle, and not good at what they do. Both times I've been they adjusted the cuff on my arm wrong; simple enough to fix, but when I ask them to fix it both times I got a lecture about how I was wasting their time. On my first visit my left arm wasn't giving enough blood, so they switched arms. This of course is no big deal, but it was done without putting the blood back in me that had come out, which eventually led to a reaction when I lost a lot of blood. When I had a reaction, (Nausea, dizzyness, shortness of breath) the floor staff tried convincing me to just ride it out since I was, "so close to done." I eventually insisted enough that they caved and got a nurse, who scolded them and said they should've gotten her the first time. In general, the floor staff make me feel like I'm a nuisance to them. Admittedly, I could be, but that doesn't change the fact that this is their job. This is not like getting a bad waiter at a restaurant, and at least the food was good, this is getting a rude, inconsiderate, inexperienced person to perform a medical procedure on you.
